In a recent case involving Parkfield Hospital trading as the Birkdale Clinic and others, the Plaintiff had been transferred to the clinic for private treatment under the NHS in respect of knee surgery. An operation and post-operative treatment was unsuccessful and our client was required to undergo further surgery to correct the failings of the earlier surgery. Proceedings were issued and the case subsequently settled in the sum of £40,000.00, together with costs.
The case was further complicated by the fact that the Birkdale Clinic had gone into Receivership.
Despite these complications, this was a very successful outcome for our client with the significant award of damages compensating him for the personal injury and loss sustained following the initial operation.
