Emily Shanks


Emily Shanks holds an Honours Degree in law and Spanish from the Queen’s University of Belfast which she was awarded in 2003.  She is a fluent Spanish speaker having spent a year at the Faculty of Law Universidad de Salamanca, Spain. Emily qualified as a Solicitor in September 2006 and was appointed to the firm of O’Hare Solicitors Belfast as an assistant solicitor in 2006.

Emily regularly assists the partners in the handling of defence claims and has her own portfolio of clients.  Emily advises on all aspects of matrimonial and family law

Brendan has a wide portfolio of clients and specialises in defence civil litigation and commercial litigation and arbitration. Allied to this he is also involved in corporate manslaughter and HSC investigations.  Brendan also has a keen interest in commercial transactions generally including company acquisition and disposal, and is a key advisor to a major waste management company.  

Brendan has also successfully litigated in company disputes between shareholders and has most recently been involved in advising on the impact of the NAMA legislation in Northern Ireland. Brendan has a reputation for assertive practice married to a practical interpretation of law to assist clients in pursuing their interests, bearing in mind the testing economic climate that exists today.
